Biharis - Migrants or infiltrants?

Some times in lighter mood I think like this. In fact in written history of India, it was Mauryas from Bihar who established Indian empire rather that empire was larger than the present India. It was Sher-shah Suri from Bihar who gave the key of peacefull and integrated ruling on which Akbar came up with the best mougal emperor tag! After that India has been existing only geographicaly. Politicaly it could be united only by britishers. After independence, different states marched forward to industrialisation getting support of the "BABUS" of Bihar and UP. But integration of the states in Indian Nation remained incomplete! Biharis have taken up the responsibility as usual - the job which was started by their forefathers need to be completed by them only! Who else can do that? Bihari labourers and other workers are just ambassadors of the Indian Nation. People in other states have to learn to live with them. Only then Integration of India will be complete. Basicaly people from Bihar and UP are not just migrant labourers, they are infiltrants of the Indian army's cultural wing! Recent study has shown that the migrants who are in many areas of the country being termed as Biharis, are basicaly not exactly from the geographical region of Bihar, many of them are from UP, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa. So Biharis are not just "VIHARIS" they are the infiltrating "REAL INDIANS".

Hindi is no ones mothertongue

Recently there has been hue and cry regarding Hindi. As a person I have grown up listenning to the slogans for and against it. I think the best solution will be to encourage every regional language to its glory. Other languages are already doing fine, only regional languages of Bihar and UP needs to be elevated. The fact that Hindi is a recent language born out of necessity will be understood only when people will experience the difficulty with other state languages. When people in Tamilnadu will find it difficult to converse with some one who knows only Braja- Bhasha or maithili, then they will understand the necessity of a national language of intrinsic origin.

Cost of concept of india

Most of our politicians play devisive politics. Many intellectuals are masters in cutting the branch of the tree while sitting on it. To show their knowledge and ignorance, they shout grom the roof top that india as a country never existed! That it was due to britishers that India came in to being! They forget that 'India' existed in the hearts of every one north to Himalayas. Correct we are so ignorant that even our name derived from sindhu to hindu and indus and india have been deducted only by the foreigners. Bharat which we named ourselves, is living only in texte books or may be in so called villages. And the greatest thing of surprise for me is how people fail to understand that britishers succeeded in dividing India in at least two, if they would have been successful, they would have made many more parts. Thanks to our visionary leaders who made us strong.
And the base line is, from centuries of experience, we all know that staying united is our necesity. So please tolerate each other. For a strong India tolerate more. More you tolerate, stronger India will be.

Originality of ancient stories

Just now faced some one denying originality of manu! earlier i have discussed similar things regarding ramayana and mahabharata with many people. the story might be termed as fiction by some one. Even gandhi will be termed fictious few deacdes later, but what cant be confused with is there was some one who wrote 'my experiments with truth'! At least respect the imagiation, knowledge of geography and exeriences with different aspects of life which was excellent, unparrellel in those writers which none of the present day writers can repeat! respect the life history and personality of both balmiki and veda vyas.

Manusmriti

Manusmriti is not about caste alone. Manusmriti is moremisunderstood than anyother ancient texts.
caste is professional brotherhood in modern terms. He was talking within the religion. He was talking of system inside the hindu religion thats why it apears more about caste. more over bigger fact is manu was writing at a time when hinduism was under attack by jainism and buddhism. Serious for the first time. So it was a reaction and a reactionary reply to them. take his writings in that backdrop, things will apear more clear, more rational and modern.

Cheap slogan and Biharis

Friends,
In my knowledge, till 1989, there was no substitute for congress I at national level. Most of the middle class people were emotionally attached. So much so that even during the anti-congress wave of 1989 most of our village people voted for congress. It was only after mandal and kamandal which created upset and people turned away from congress towards BJP. Rather to say "people don’t oppose BJP". Their patriotism was never questioned but their ability to handle the country was always suspected. They proved it by accompanying the minister to Kabul with the terrorists. But we forgave keeping the emotional situation in view. Then came the experience with Pramod Mahajan during fight with local doctors in Mumbai. Late Mr. Mahajan (whom we all kept in very high spirit so much so that the future prime minister was being expected out of him) said on TV ("bahar ke log yahan padhane aate hain . . . . rajniti nahin karani chahiye"), "OUTSIDERS should mind their business and should not play politics"! We were conveniently termed as outsiders. That was for the doctors - mind it, not rickshaw pullers. And that was because the fight had started over bath room!
During Maharashtra elections, Raj thakerey started the marathi onslaught but shiv sena and BJP including even NCP followed the same spirit. They did not oppose it. Congress a wise and shrewd player just watched it. But it was Sonia Gandhi who dared to speak against the separatist slogan. BJP and shiv sena may curse raj thakarey for the debacle but what they forgot that in mumbai suburb they have lost large support base due to their recent goof ups.
But are these goof ups or are these their true colour? All knows that Bal Thackeray started his politics with anti Tamil slogan when same congress kept quite to finish the communists in 70’s! Later for bigger reasons he switched over to Muslims. He was the first one to talk against immigrants’ way back in late 80s - even before their first government was in power. When they were in power, tried to pack Muslims back to Bengal! We all kept quite thinking it as political gimmick and because it was not affecting us.
Friends, Biharis are the most vibrant and able people. We have fought Laloo Prasad Government for 20 years and still we are fighting with the discriminations bravely. If Pakistani refugees of yesteryears can rule this land, one day the home grown Bihari crops also will fill the Indian marckets. But it may take another 20- 25 years! Till that time don’t involve in any type of cheap slogan. Because if some one can raise one type of cheap slogan, he/ she can raise other type of cheap slogan too which can hurt you!

Biharis as villains

I was born in Bihar but have lived most of my life outside Bihar. Most of my education has been outside Bihar only. Thakerays and chauvans are not rare, its just that now they are reaching to the authetic posts. Earlier they used to be road side people for whose words we never minded.
Any riot or socio- political unrest effects the lower strata of the society only. They lose their job or little money or life. Middle class gets affected only emotionaly, occaisionaly by others losses like property as well. So ultimately such cheap rhetorics will not affect the ground level situation. Every one knows that Indians are not respected in USA or Europe, still people go there for studies and earning . . . Similar situation has happened for Biharis in their own country which they have helped to built through their blood and sweat!
Last 40 years there has been negative growth in Bihar. It has to reflect some day. Insults all over the country will only improve/ change the behaviour of Biharis in long run. But one thing is clear, as a political organisation, congress is the only one having national unity as its agenda.

Jinna Tale

Regarding Jinnah and India, I have my concept like this-
No doubt, jinnah was one of the great persons in the world history. And before criticising such a great person, we should look on to our own feet. Such people are born ones in few hundred years!
Most of those who discuss the issue now are the hardcore oppurtunists. Regarding Jinnah's role in partition, the most important role if at all of any one, was of British Raj. They could have divided India in few more parts, but thanks to Gandhi's 'attitude' and realistic approach of Ambedkar, it did not happen.Knowing the inside story is difficult. Even in present day of media blitz, there are so many confusions and rumours regarding stories of top people. So, part of the story becomes cooked as well! Only thing which comes out of this story clear is, even great people, responsible people are not out of personal bias and benefits. Otherwise, Gandhi- Nehru would have made jinnah the prime minister! Or Jinnah would have tolerated/ accepted Gandhi- Nehru as leader! For the sake of mother India! But bigger issue is why this exhumation now? Is it not to prove that "I am a secular person"?
More important issue than secular credential of jinna or nehru and gandhi is, whether 'we' the people of this region got benefit out of this division? Gandhi remained gandhi and became mahatma, father of the nation, jinna became 'qaide azam' of pakistan, nehru the visionary . . . did peopel of india, pakistan, bangladesh benefit? Did islam benefit? Did hinduism benefit? Beacuse these are the crietrias which were used by these "selfish" people to fight and divide and still we are fighting for. So, lets discuss that.

My story

20 years ago, I passed I. Sc (+2 with science) from Langat Singh College (the best one north to ganga in Bihar, at Muzaffarpur). I had a goal to become a doctor, a neurosurgeon. If some one would have seen me after May 1989, he would have felt easily that I am infected with the political bug. I was reading, but I knew that it was not adequate. An year before, Mr. Karpoori Thakur had died and Mr. Laloo Prasad was the leader of opposition in the assembly. 1989 August - September some time, opposition leaders inside muzaffarpur zail were beaten and there was a meeting at tilak maidan. Laloo Prasd was one of the members of the gamot on the dais. Even then he was passing vulgar comments about the collector (dont know if it was she). After parliament elections, future of congress government in bihar was clear. It was January 1990, my father not happy with my preparation, 'instructed' me to go to patna and get coaching for my pre medical test. At patna i had my childhood friend, an active member of a dalit organisation (dont know exactly, but he behaved so). He helped me alot. In exchange i had to listen to his stories of dalit oppression and response by some people . . . sometime his abusings also . . . . my friendship continued; now he is an adminidtrative oficer and always tries to recieve me at Patna junction. 1990 assembly elections and laloo jee became the cm. Through kamandal and mandal he became stronger. But i remained in patna . . . infected. 1991, january, poisioned air, I was going back from my teacher's house, saw people in line for human chain for communal harmony . . . I too joined. Suddenly laloo prasad came . . "line mat torana, line mat torana" (dont break the line . . dont break the line). . . then I remembered, it was ramna road ( one of the muslim dominated areas- across patna university, sushil modi was ruffled there) where I was standing. As laloo jee came in many tried to hold his hand, I was less interested, but or so, followed his advice to not to break the line and remained in my place . . .laloo jee got snaps - the aim of the human chain. Laloo prasad kept going. . . . Rajeev Gandhi died and i came home in my village. I got admission at BHU for BSc course. As the train crossed Ganga after Mugalsarai, I told my friend (not the above mentioned one) that the way laloo is going, it will take 20 years to get rid of him. My friend replied, if so, it will be all lost. I agreed but reafirmed - we have no option. But will he do anything for bihar? Even if he does not do anything . . . . by the other end of ganga, we promised to each other, no more political discussion.
With number of massacres, many died, many became weak . . . .but one man, laloo prasad became stronger. He was doing no good for any one. His role was of a shrwed and silent spectator most of the time. His slogans changed from chnage in the society and government to social justice. I am sure he does not know what social justice meant? There are people and they were, in all the premises of the society working for social justice. All through he weakened them. His social justice was a cheat, gave justice to no one. He made it free for all and supported to either the one who can bribe him or his goons or to some one who was less harmful to him. One memorable thing, charwaha vidyalaya. Which could not run . . . tainy- tainy- fiss! But laloo kept going. People all over India sometimes it appeared all over the world were surprised, how in a democracy a man like him - ignorant, joker and corrupt, is surviving so long. Every was surprised, not me. But one thing, I was not knowing, whether he acknoledges why he is surviving?
Slowly people understood . . . I passed my mbbs, got married. . . preparing for my pg . . I was staying at choudhury tola at Patna. It was election time, year 2000, I had come out to call my wife from a STD booth. laloo prasad came in his popular bus "hamen mallom hai ki yahan jyada bolane ki jaroorat nahin hai (I know here I need not to talk much) . . .( it was near Patthar ki masjid, a junction of areas dominated by muslims, bhumihars and yadavs) . . . ye vote ka raj hai, laloo ka raj hai, mane kee 'chhot ka raj hai, akaliyat ka raj hai" (this is rule of vote, rule of laloo, means this is rule of small/ sceduled people). . . laloo prasda kept going . . . .I thought of filing a proprietery case against him. this word "chhot", "chhotaka jaat", was my uncle's word, how can he copy that? But i had to prepare for my pg. Got Neurosurgery at Apollo hospital and came to chennai. My brother got in to law studies. I kept saying him to come to chennai but he did not.
Next elections and laloo almost defeated. . . .survived due to sonia jee. Again started the same rock hard, deaf, insensitive rule. One of laloo's closest aid, shadanand tiwary was unruffled at Patna book fair and he was a minister at that time. When he was being chased out, he shouted - "pandrah saal se moog darar rahen hain kaleja par aur abhi aur dararenge" (over last 15 years we have been raping you all and will continue).
Ultimately people gave clear verdict. Laloo was wiped out inspite of favors of the governor. People keep worrying about activities of nitish kumar . . . worrying about revival of laloo . . .my brother has joined patna high court. . . . what will happen to laloo?
Last month one of my caste man, a student of Isc, hit on the vertex of a dusadh lady . . . village panchayat fined him with 25, 000. He (his father) refused to pay. With a lot of difficulty dusadha was helped by some people (same people who used to help them before laloo came in to being) and he filed case in a district court, but the offender remained roaming out side thundering. My brother filed a case in high court for arrest of the offender. Free of cost. (- with us it happens unconsciously - our tradition. Our family's tradition. My father had appeared for 10th exam of his friend who failed due to English for 8 times (those days - before karpoori - english was compulsary), got caught and fought the court case for 12 years to get acquited; I have never charged a single paisa to any one anywhere who came to me for advice - I bring only my payment home). My brother pleaded that in addition to this being an attempt to murder, because these people are poor, they are being troubled. Judge asked then how are you here? They must have spent few thousands (given to you to plead the case) . . . I am doing social service, my replied replied. Judge laughed, "such people vanish at district level". Case was thrown to dustbin. My brother is a fool. "moorkh". He had apealed to human rights commision, they are yet to turn.
Did we learn anything over last 20 years? And, I must remind you, my uncle is bed ridden now, but he does use the "chhot jaat". He has never seen laloo even from a distance like me. Even by chance like me. He does not understand where the "chhot jaat" implicates us! I have to listen on his behalf . . . the implications.
And I forgot to say, i am a bhumihar. my father's title is 'thakur' but he did not put the same for we both brothers. And i am seriously thinking to make it "moorkh" at least occaisionaly.

is it the legal system or the politics in its indian format??

On 31- 07- 2009, the court dropped the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) invoked against Sadhvi Pragya Singh, Lt Col S P Purohit and nine other accused in 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, saying none of them is part of an organised crime syndicate!!! I am proud of our country, its democracy, its culture and its varieties, but i am ashamed of our political and administrative system and doubtful of our legal system of course part of our media is master in cracking irresponsible jokes (remember the killing of the girl in delhi and shameful reporting by the tv channels). Otherwise can some one explain why all these people did not practice restraint when investigating this case. My heart comes out for all such people who not only tolerated the torture in jail, but alsio lost their glory. Will some one be more responsible next time? Specialy when elections are around (remember the way this issue was blown up few months ago)- retrospectively, does it not appear as a large conspiracy?

India is great

India has been the terminal point for many human journeys/ invasions/ . . . . Starting probably the first movement from origin of the human species in Africa, human groups named for 'convenience' like Dravidians, Aryans, Mongolians . . . . . have rested in this great north Himalayan region. You can say it as "cul de sac" but I feel it is the comfort coming out of the climate, fertile land and adequacy of every other important element which gives the soothing situation which has ultimately made diferent human 'groups' settled here and end their endeavours.
In every other part of the world, different layers of time is erased to be replaced by the new order. In Indian subcontinent, we can still find remains of every layer in adequate quantity and quakity from the beginning! This makes our situation complex. But all these things happened because of the tolerance and values which our forefathers had which gave way to the fresh people and fresh ideas with equal respect to the existing ones. For example in west asia every one who tried to talk anything new was either crucified or he was made to keep fighting all through his life, where as in India every new idea is welcomed, tried and tested and treated accordingly.
In contemporary society, few people are in a hurry to settle the issues. Unmindful of the complexities of our region and country, they try to impose things of their choice. It may sound easy and good, but they are quick fixes, and to me apears as short sighted. I request all to be patient and receptive, India is great and so we all are great.

BAD IS BAD - FOR ALL

There is an old saying, a dog trained to bite others may bite even the trainer! There is no reason why I should get surprised by recent activities of different "Senas" in different cities. Rather I forecast and warn the civil society that they (we all) should come out together to protest all those who take law in their hands on the name of self made rules; or else the day will come when these people will trouble each one of us for one or other reason! Whoever they are - even if they include my own brother.

Next time they target some other group! Selection of the group depends on the possibility of coming in to the limelight!
PLEASE STOP IT NOW.
